Lauren Nichols is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate under the supervision of Pam Cosart (LPC-S) and Dr. Jana Vanderslice (Ph.D., LPC-S, NCC). Before beginning professional counseling, she was a school counselor in bilingual schools working with children from Pre-K to 5th grade. Her favorite thing in the world to do is show individuals their value by listening to them and validating their experiences. She seeks to always be a safe, nurturing place for people who need someone to genuinely listen to and care for them.
Lauren loves to counsel children, adolescents, and adults. She is a Christ-follower and believes looking to Jesus and understanding his love for us helps us heal from the past and nurture current relationships. She would be thrilled to incorporate faith and spiritual beliefs in the counseling process for those who choose to do so. She also incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, DBT, mindfulness-based therapy, and play and art in the therapy for younger clients,.
Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband, a nurse, and her two young children. She enjoys running, reading books, singing, and going on long walks. She also loves sniffing out some good coffee and pastries. Before working as a school counselor, she was a middle school and high school English teacher for four years. She received her Bachelor's in English Education from Baylor University and her Master's in School Counseling from UT Tyler, with additional graduate coursework from Stephen F. Austin University.
Lauren has experience working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, OCD, identity issues, spiritual issues, difficult transitions or adjustments, relationship and parenting struggles, school and work issues, ADHD, self-esteem issues, life crises, suicidal thoughts or self-harm, dissociation, and trauma.
