Wendy McWhorter is an LPC- Associate under the supervision of Tammy E. Nix, MA, LPC-S, LCDC. She received her Masters in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree from Houston Baptist University. She is EMDR trained and holds affiliations with the International Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) and the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS).
Wendy has worked at a crisis counseling center as well as in private practice. She specializes in working with adults, adolescents and children dealing with trauma, anxiety and depression and offers play therapy as well. She also works with couples and has a specific interest in dissociative disorders. Wendy employs a trauma- informed and client- centered approach, primarily. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and often finds this modality helpful with clients. When desired, Wendy offers a more spiritual, biblically focused approach. Wendy is a Houston native who has been married to her husband for 22 years, and they have three children.
Wendy puts utmost importance on the therapeutic relationship, providing an atmosphere of warmth and safety. She believes such an environment is crucial for those working through difficult seasons or stories. Life’s journey is hard. Most clients are weary by the time they arrive, and Wendy finds great joy in their realization that they do not have to journey alone.
